Chavagnes: promoting excellence

April 6th, 2011 by principal No comments »

Chavagnes International College follows follows a study programme which combines the best of the French national curriculum with the Cambridge International Curriculum, whilst imbuing the whole school programme with its own distinctive Catholic ethos. Pupils are prepared for UK examinations from Cambridge or from AQA in addition to the French ‘Brevet des Collèges’ diploma in Year 10. In Year 11 students validate their study with GCSE and IGCSE examinations. In Years 12 and 13 they have the option of preparing for the French baccalaureate, UK A-levels or both at the same time. Chavagnes is the only school in the world which prepares pupils for the French baccalaureate and UK A-levels simultaneously.

Youngsters who have qualifications in both the French and UK systems have an important advantage over their peers for university entrance and  in today’s labour market.

Founded two centuries ago as a minor seminary, in the wake of the French Revolution, and refounded in 2002 as an international school teaching through the medium of English, Chavagnes today is a vibrant Catholic community where Masters and boys eat together, pray together and learn together, perpetuating the best traditions of Christian education, preparing boys to be Christian leaders in the modern world.
